Public Cloud Cybersecurity and Data Protection

Migrating data and workloads to public clouds is a trend that is unrelenting. The public cloud pitch is that public cloud solutions reduce IT costs, boost productivity and have mission critical data easier to access anytime from any location. Realizing these benefits, is not so easy, however.

For one, knowing the location of data is practically impossible. Storing data in a public cloud, also opens it to greater possibilities of data breaches, internal threats and hackers. Safeguarding confidential data and security concerns are the primary reasons most organizations restrict migrations to public clouds.

The purpose of more than one-third of cyberattacks is data theft. Public cloud data is vulnerable to such thefts. Data loss can happen anytime and anywhere, and data owners may not even be aware that such a breach has occurred.

When it comes to public clouds, most organizations often forget that cybersecurity is not just the responsibility of the public cloud provider. Rather it is a shared responsibility of both the public cloud provider and the customer. Customers that forget this do so at their peril.

ComputerVault Hyper-converged Infrastructure software, installed on-premises or in a datacenter, however, reduces the human attack surface.

By deploying a private cloud with ComputerVault HCI, rather than a public cloud, all data and workloads remain in a private network. ComputerVault remotely administers the private cloud as part of the software license like a public cloud does.

ComputerVault provides the cost reduction, productivity gains, and data access that a public cloud provides, while minimizing cybersecurity risk and bringing the control of data back to an organization.
